I’m working with a group of friends who are passionate about making a difference around the true cost of fashion on people and the environment. With the increasing rate of fast fashion and the decreasing price of clothing, the clothing we buy from many retailers in New Zealand does not consider the costs of human suffering and environmental damage caused through the global fashion industry.
From informal research we’ve been hearing how many people would like to buy organic and ethical clothing at a good price. We think more people would buy organic and ethical clothing with great style, if it is accessible. We are testing an idea to sell fashionable organic and ethical clothing and fabric in NZ.
Market test #1 Buy Ethical Tees
We’ve sourced stylish basic tees for men and women from Swedish brand Earth Positive. Earth Positive tees are organically and ethically made, with a positive social and low environmental impact. And because these tees are made of 50% organic cotton and 50% tencel, they feel great!
We tested these basic tees out for retail at the Fraft Market at Edge Kingsland on Friday 20 November. And were pleased with the incredible uptake.
Earth Positive tees are:
- Certified Fair Wear
- Reduced carbon footprint
- 140GSM tencel and cotton organic blend content standard
We’ll post here shortly about our remaining stock available for purchase.
